The GTA series, it's a familiar term. Fans are already hoping for the announcement of the fifth installment some Friday (along with Vice City, San Andreas and London 1969, it would already be the ninth). Today I would like to mention the latest addition to this successful series.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a fan, but GTA games (and GTA-type games in general) were and are among my favorite genres. I've played all the parts and starting with GTA III I've finished them all. I therefore eagerly anticipated GTA IV at the time of its release (PC). The fourth volume is generally rated very well. Complaints are generally only about untuned PC conversion. My expectations were not met on more shall we say "levels":) which prompted me to write this review.

In agreement with the reviewers, I give a big plus to the story. It's cinematic, spectacular, with a large number of interesting and humorous characters, it simply captivates you from beginning to end. However, this is already almost the GTA standard, only in the new (then) graphics everything looks better. The missions are still at a high level, even if some are already more than familiar, but the right bank job must be and the missions are definitely fun. Another plus is the size and detail of Liberty City. You can buy a [censored] dog here, people look more believable and do everything possible :). In general, locations, flowers, houses and everything is more detailed. The physics of cars and walking are also excellent. However, the list of superlatives ends here. As for the game options: I dare say that GTA IV went backwards. By the time Vice City was completed, the player was more or less the master of their city, albeit small. There aren't many attractions here apart from the story missions and there's nothing to own, compared to the aforementioned Vice City. Compared to San Andreas, the fourth part cannot stand the absence of the countryside, airplanes, harvesters :)), etc. This is related to the overall small diversity of the environment. The failed conversion to PC is also annoying. The controls are really frustrating, Nico Bellic runs where you don't want him to, stops when you don't want him to, doesn't want to run when you want him to, etc.

Overall, the impression of playing GTA IV is contradictory. On the one hand, it will offer you an excellent story and missions. However, after finishing the game, the feeling remains that all previous GTA titles offered something new, and there is nothing here except new graphics. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played yet, but my favorite GTA title remains Vice City :).

P.S.: this is my first review, so I hope you won't stone me for any mistakes. If there is at least a little interest and some positive responses. I would like to continue writing reviews and possibly my own observations from game scenes.
