A new action RPG from the Japanese studio FromSoftware, which, at least in part, put itself in a not entirely simple situation. The hype that was built around this game even before it was officially announced was huge. And not yet. After all, this is the continuation of the cult Dark Souls series, the next title after Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the game of 2019, and so far the last piece in the genre puzzle that was started with Demon's Souls. At the end of the year before last, their excellent remake served as the starting title for the entire PlayStation 5 and the current next-gen era.
This is certainly not an insignificant legacy, which not only the game, but also the studio itself must live up to. So how did the developers achieve this? They've taken their years of experience - everything they've learned and everything they've experimented with - picked the best of it and thrown it into one big blender with other new ideas. And probably few people will be surprised that this resulted in a game that rightfully takes away from us the highest recommendation I can give. So if all you care about is the insignificant number, there you have it: 10 out of 10. But if you're wondering why, then definitely stick around and read the full review (I know it's long). Because I can tell you that the game doesn't get this recommendation because it's a de facto Dark Souls 4. It gets it because it's so much more than "just" another Dark Souls.
